"I avoided bariatric surgery and diabetes is gone from my life!"
I have been a client of Aaron Guttman since November 2015. Thanks to him, I was able to avoid Bariatric Surgery and my diabetes is gone. In October 2015, I decided to go forward with Bariatric Surgery – since all prior attempts at weight loss had failed. Part of that decision was to change my lifestyle, so I thought why not get fit before the surgery. I decided to find a way to make exercise and nutrition a new way of life. As luck would have it, one of my coworkers, who had been working with a trainer and had achieved impressive results, led me straight to Aaron, and I’ve never looked back. In the end I became healthy and fit, no longer diabetic, and I avoided surgery.
From the moment I met Aaron, I knew he was a person that could help me achieve new goals and also the one that would help change my life for the better. During the last 3 months, I have been challenged and pushed by Aaron, and he has taught me a great deal. He makes working out fun and inspires me to reach new goals. I have been very impressed by his passion to help clients, his knowledge in not only exercise – but nutrition also, and his ability to connect with his clients. As a result I decided to cancel my Bariatric surgery and am so thankful that I did!
Aaron is very caring and attentive to what each client needs, what their limits are, and how far he can push them. He encourages and motivates me to do better, and yet he knows how much I am capable of. He deserves the best compliments, I plan to be a long-term client, and more importantly, continue to work with Aaron even after he helps me reach my goals. Since I started I have lost over 50 pounds and 26 inches overall. I’m down three clothing sizes and the weight and size I am now I haven’t seen since before 2000. Best of all, Diabetes is no longer in my life! So happy to continue this adventure with Aaron’s guidance.

Dr. John Sussman, MD, FACC Cardiologist
I’ve been working out under Aaron Guttman’s guidance for over six months, for one hour twice a week. We’ve had to revise workouts a couple of times due to chronic problems I have with a knee and shoulder, and he’s always found good alternative exercises for me which allow me to get a good full body workout. We’ve also spoken a lot about diet. Mine was not too bad to start with, but he’s definitely encouraged me to develop some very helpful changes.
I’ve lost fat and built muscle, and the results have been noticeable to me, and also to my family and my colleagues at work. I feel better, stronger, and more energetic day to day. I work long hours, on my feet much of the day, and am feeling less and less tired at the end of my workdays (even the ones which start with an hour workout at 5am).
I’m a physician, specializing in cardiac electrophysiology. Along with my colleagues in cardiology, I know too well the health problems which can come from being overweight. I often find myself counseling patients on the importance of regular exercise, and pleading with them to even walk 20 minutes a few times a week. Compared to this, I’m so impressed and proud of the gains I’ve made over a relatively short time. And I’ve heard so many positive stories about the progress made by Aaron’s other clients as well. He and I have spoken a lot about how to keep these changes going over time, and I look forward to doing just that.

From Liz Bitterman August 12, 2017, 9 months into training here are her results:
BEFORE I STARTED TRAINING
My husband of 44 years had died following a 10 year struggle with a degenerative disease. During the last few years of his illness I spent most of my time as his caretaker. I am a stress eater and that combined with stopping any physical exercise resulted in weight gain and physical decline. Ours was a wonderful marriage, and two years following his death I was still depressed and could not get myself motivated to change. I was about to turn 70 and knew that the time to get going was long overdue – and my husband and I had many talks about how I was to enjoy life when I was alone.
I ran into an old friend who I hadn’t seen in years, and she looked great. She had lost some weight, but the main thing I noticed was her posture was kind of stately – sounds strange, but true. Turns out she had just come from working out with Aaron and started raving about how much she liked it. Urged me to give it a try.
Now, I had never entertained the idea of using a trainer. Have someone look at me while I worked out? I was reluctant, but also desperate, so I called and made an appointment for an evaluation. And have been grateful ever since that I did. From the outset Aaron’s genuine caring for his clients and love for his job is obvious. After spending some time getting my background, and discussing goals, and looking as I did some simple exercise, he asked if I ever had pain in my left hip. Now that day it was not bothering me, but the way I moved revealed what had been an increasing problem in the last few years. Nobody had ever noticed before, including mat pilates and yoga instructors. Maybe there was something to this trainer thing… So, I signed on for a few weeks to see what developed. And I have been happy ever since that I did.
My major goal was to feel better both mentally and physically. I am experienced enough (i.e. old) to know that if I felt better physically I would feel better mentally. I wanted to feel fitter, and weight loss would be welcome but not the primary goal
We got started as Aaron got to know my abilities and capacity and to train me. I must be one of the more annoying clients in some ways since I questioned him constantly on why we were doing things the way we did, what was the science behind what we did, etc. etc. But he patiently explained everything and I feel that I have learned a great deal. And my progress every week was incredibly rewarding. Aaron has a way of knowing when to increase difficulty, when to mix it up, and how to motivate me to do more week after week. I am now totally committed to a comprehensive fitness program and working with Aaron as long as he’ll have me as a client.
Training has allowed me to achieve the following:
45 pound weight loss, a steady 5 pounds a month for 9 months, just achieved my goal weight
Better cardio function. Ability to go on 6-8 mile hikes with elevation change where I was down to 4 miles on relatively flat trails before
Better balance – I notice that I can now go up and down the steep stairs in my kids houses, with a grandchild in tow without holding on to bannisters for dear life
Increased energy – people comment all the time about how I move faster and seem so energetic
Better sleep – although I always enjoyed a nap, now I seldom feel the need and sleep straight through the night which had been a rarity for at least 5 years
I am excited to continue training and have just increased my sessions from twice a week to three times. Why? Because I feel great every time I go and am still learning and growing. I cannot stress enough how much better I feel. Working with Aaron has truly given me my life back and I am totally grateful.
Text Messages from Brian Moye (These were great! I thought I'd share!)
1/28 5:26pm One of my partners saw me today and asked how much I weigh. Told him I stopped eating bad food period. He knew me when I ate burgers/fast food, fries, tortilla chips and soda out the all the time. Thinking back, I never ate good food. I meant that too. Never. When my brother sees me next he will definitely want to do it. Not starving. Plenty of food. Eating all the time it seems.
1/30 10:30am I feel so #$@! good. I cant even imagine ever going off this food.
2/11 10:47am Holy cow … got on the scale today 214lbs. I put on some shorts this morning and couldn’t even make them stay on me. I had to get on the scale. That’s 15.2 lbs down in a month. Just eating properly and exercising. This is incredible. I was beat last night after my run/walk with the dog too. Knees hurt a little while doing the run but I can walk just fine today. No lingering pain like I would have had in the past. Muscles aren’t sore at all either. I thought they would be killing me after increasing the exercise load. The best thing about this is I like the food. I have eaten at Moe’s and Chick fil a. Its doable no problem. The worm has definitely turned for me. Born again hard.
2/11 11:50am You’re spot on. I definitely have the metabolic rate jacked up. And I know when I step the exercise up in a month or so I will need to eat even more. Its awesome. The science had definitely been proven on me.
2/13 5:47pm … my back hasn’t hurt in months…
2/17 8:37pm I’m saving a fortune in eating out… for sure so its not costing me more, I actually think I’m saving money doing this.
2/17 8:43pm (my wife) says it costs $200/week approx.. I used to spend $60 on a Friday night dinner alone not counting the pizza twice a week for $30/week alone. I’m happy I made the change.
2/21 8:12pm Yesterday I had a deposition that I gave, the lawyer that was with me for probably 30 or 40 depositions said yesterday was the best one ever. He said whatever my diet change my lifestyle change that definitely I’m on my game. Sharper mind and body.
2/21 8:18 I am definitely born again hard.
3/02 1:32pm I’m down to 209 and still doing great there.
3/02 1:41pm Ran 3 nights in a row… I’m definitely feeling lighter. Feel really good. I have no problem getting to sleep or waking up anymore.
3/09 4:38pm Tomorrow is my birthday. I don’t even feel like I’m trying to lose weight. Just eating all the right foods in the right combinations at the right time. I’m now down to 208lbs. That’s 31lbs in less than 3 months. Wife bought me a pair of 34 shorts. I thought no way I’d fit in them. I was wrong. Holy cow man. This stuff works man. I’m never going back to the way I was. Never. I was wearing 38-40 shorts and 38 Levi’s. Now my old 36 jeans are big. Lol Best thing I ever did was listen to you. I really appreciate you getting me started and keeping me motivated. Best money anyone can spend. I cant believe I waited this long to make the change. Thanks.
When I decided to take control of my health, I went to see Aaron Guttman about weight training only . He started me on a stabilization exercise program to condition my muscles an strengthen the tendons and ligaments and to improve my balance and core strength. After about 2 months of that, Aaron moved me to do strength endurance sets. With this, I lost about 15 pounds.
Aaron had been informing me that while weight training was good, I had to incorporate changes in my diet and resume aerobic training as well. He presented to me a number of videos regarding nutrition. I decided that I would give juicing a try. In March I dropped my weight from 326 to 307.
At that point I went to see Aaron about how to continue the momentum created. We talked extensively about what was good about my nutrition, and what I had trouble with. He created an integrated program for me. He convinced me that the body is designed to eat, and one needs to eat to lose weight and why I should include fats.
With my doctors approval I started the integrated diet, exercise and weight training plan that Aaron designed, I lost an additional 44 pounds getting down to 263 during 2013. I was able to stop taking my cholesterol medication. My doctor said whatever I was doing to keep it up! I have periodically checked in with Aaron, he has adjusted my weight training routine, and other maintenance activities. I would heartedly recommend him to anyone seeking personal training.
After working with Aaron for only a few weeks I began to notice positive changes. I am constantly impressed by how he is able to tailor a plan to my individual needs, and vary that plan on-the-fly, to adapt it to how I am performing on any given day without changing the goal or target of the individual exercise. If a set is too easy, he quickly suggests modifications or an alternate approaches which focus on the same muscles at an appropriate level of difficulty, or vice-versa if a particular set is too difficult. Through Aaron’s guidance I am much more aware of my core strength. Together, we continue to focus on improving my overall fitness, which has strengthened my athletic performance in other endeavors such as marathon running. Since I began working with Aaron my marathon time as decreased by over an hour!
This is a brief note of thanks and appreciation. I feel very lucky that I found you to work with me as my personal trainer. As a 58 year old male, I am not looking to become an Olympic athlete but in some ways I liken my current life situation to a marathon runner. As you know, our one son is severely mentally disabled but is increasingly very active physically. The physical stress placed upon me to keep up with him is difficult for most people to comprehend. You, thankfully, spent an incredible amount of time, literally interviewing me to find out not only my physical limitations and medical conditions, but also, the reasons such as my son for seeking a trainer. In the time we have worked together, I continue to be impressed with your ability to adapt exercises to my conditions. I already feel the value of this training – not only the physical, but also the emphasis on proper nutrition. I can honestly say that this is saving my life. Both of my doctors are very happy that I am working with you. Thank you again. And please feel free to use me as a recommendation at any time.
I would highly recommend Aaron Guttman as a personal trainer. I am just finishing up the ‘Stabilization phase’ and I have learned a great deal about my personal fitness. In the past I often had lower back pain, and at times I would have trouble with my left knee and hip. On my own, the only way I knew how to deal with all of this was to rest from working out, visit my chiropracter, and take Advil nearly every day. And now this has not been the case for the past few months. Aaron has taught me what exercises can help build more strength for these areas, and he has tailored my workouts in a way that has made a step change in the strength of my back and core muscles to keep me from the constant setbacks and pain I had become accustomed to. I am not good with pain, so knowing now that I have a way to avoid it in a healthy way, I am impressed and thrilled! The combination of learning exercises I can do on my own, as well as the workouts he tailors for me twice a week feels like a great balance for my fitness, and seems like the solution that is making a step change in my overall quality of life. He has exceeded my expectations of what a personal trainer could do for me!
Aaron I wanted to send you an email to let you know how happy I am with our workout, the way you have me working out and the results I have gotten from the different types of workouts you have me doing. We started working out again on and off from October to November, then we really got back into it in December. The week of the 23rd. We would meet at the gym steady. I remember being out of breath for weeks until it became second nature and that was a great feeling. We then worked on core and lower back on alternating days. Some days it was very challenging and others less so. Then off to floor exercises, which you loved to do in an unstable manner. One legged or tippy toes. Alternate hand to foot. It was awkward but intense. So I would have to say that with those workouts and the constant reminders of how to portion my food, eat hearty after workouts and watch the timing and combinations it was great. Then we changed it up to the 4 to 2 seconds for the enhancing of metabolism to gain a caloric burn for hours after the workout was the best. For weeks I waited for the fat to burn off and waited,…. till one day it became very noticeable. Man I was happy. It made working out more of a passion to see where it would go. Once that happened I started on juicing, adding that to how I ate. That was the best thing I could have ever done. It really added to more energy during the day and workouts. I was able to snow plow for 24 hours and instead of feeling completely drained I had plenty of energy when done! Now that your studio is open and you have the TRX certification it has added a great tool to the arsenal of workouts we have and are alternating in the gym. All in all the results I am seeing along with the way I feel as a 43 year old man is great. Now we are strength training and mixing in some advanced P90X it has brought in a whole new level to my training and personal challenges. Tough mudder here we come!! So a giant thank you is in order for the way I look and feel. I will have a beach body by the time the first vacation comes around and my wife loves the way I am looking too. Thank you for all you have done and for the friendship we have established along the way.
